Let The Redeemed Sing
Psalm 107 begins by saying, "Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble." It's saying, let the redeemed of the Lord tell about God's goodness, His love, His redeeming work.
And church, that tells us that proclamation should be a central part of what we do as believers. We should speak about what the Lord has done through Christ in our lives. We should proclaim the gospel.
But the easiest way for us to do that, the way intended by even the psalmist himself, is that we would sing. Our singing is a testimony to our redemption. Let the redeemed of the Lord sing like they've been redeemed!
Our singing is a testimony to the watching world. It's a testimony to our children. It's a testimony to one another, as you make your voices heard one to another.
So church, if you've been redeemed, sing like it! Sing knowing the redemption Christ has bought is our's right now. Sing like all the promises of God have found their yes and amen in Jesus. Sing because salvation has been won, Jesus defeated the grave, sin has been done away with, and God is bringing to completion all of His good work.
Church, let these truths stir you to sing, to proclaim what the Lord has done. And to do so boldly, confidently, in hope, with joy, together, all to the glory of God.
It's a joy when we can say, in something like a word of exhortation, “Church, you do this well.” Keep on, don't grow weary in this work.
